This standard explains the use of hi-visibility fabrics and retroreflective materials. It specifies the chromaticity levels to which fabrics need to be dyed in terms of performance and atmospheric pressures in order to comply safety standards. Natural fibre garments have a lower chromaticity level due to the nature of the fabric. However, generally only when a polyester garment is deemed a risk to the wearer in certain applications, should cotton or wool be worn in its place.
Class F = Daytime fluorescent
Class R = Retroreflective material
Class RF = Retroreflective and fluorescent
Class NF = High daytime visibility NON Fluorescent
This standard refers to how a garment is constructed using fabrics compliant to 1906.4 above. There has to be over 0.2m2 of unbroken fluoro fabric on both the front and back of a garment in the upper torso (not including the sleeves). The fluoro must not be broken with non fluoro fabric within the 0.2m2 area on both the front and back from the top of the shoulders to the waist and MUST encircle the body up to that measurement, so no full side panels up to armpit level are permitted. This standard also explains the position of the retroreflective tapes on the garment and the width and quantity used. These tapes should not detract from the 0.2m2 measurement required.
Class D = Daytime use
Class N = Night time use using retroreflective material
This standard refers to the capability of a fabric to protect skin against solar ultra violet radiation (known as UPF = ultra violet protection factor). This standard is an additional bonus to the garment rather than an essential requirement for hi-visibility standards but often specified from specific industry users.
NOTE: Embroidery on Hi-visibility safety garments excessively large logos may jeopardise the classification of the garment. Embroidery on wet weather jackets may also impair the waterproofing properties of the garment.
All measurements on this website are approximate and are for reference only. This size chart is a guide only and sizing may vary according to the style, fabric and fit of the actual garment. Waist specifications are measured at the natural waist which are to be considered even though garments will generally fit lower.
To Whom It May Concern, I’ve had the privilege of meeting Bailey back in September 2021 when arranging our newly formed relationship with NZ Uniforms. Part of my role as General Manager of NZMA and NZIS was to oversee this set up and ensure the transition was as seamless as possible., I’m pleased to say my dealings with NZ Uniforms has been extremely positive and the person that has been instrumental in making this happen has been our account manager Bailey Ross. Right from the start Bailey was warm, welcoming and extremely professional., Bailey has really listened to our business requirements and provided experienced advice, flexibility, amazing communications and her humorous transparent personality to guide us through this transition with enjoyable ease. I can tell Bailey is an asset to NZ Uniforms and has broad range of talents that will see her go far through many industries., Nga mihi nui

Amid a brand identity refresh I reached out to NZ Uniforms to get some help with new work clothing for our operations team. I used the “Book a Sales Rep” function on their website and I was contacted by Bailey the next day. From the get-go Bailey was responsive, super patient and gave great advice. She made it so easy that I didn’t seek out quotes from alternate suppliers for this project. Our order was a large mixture of sizes and clothing styles, when it arrived not one item was missing or incorrect. Our team are now 100% compliant, look slick and are proud to be wearing their newly branded clothing. 10 out of 10 would recommend Bailey and the team at NZ Uniforms, the entire process is really customer centric and delivers a great result.

It’s been great having a dedicated contact person, it has meant that questions and changes have been quick and easy to implement. A big advantage has been the available access to a design team, making the implementation of new designs and ideas seamless.

In 2019 Marsden partnered with New Zealand Uniforms, a leader in the school uniform space, to be our exclusive provider and seller of Marsden uniforms. With 24/7 access to online sales, home delivery, and a broader range of products from which to choose as well as a retail outlet, uniform shopping is easy. We moved to NZ Uniforms because the economics of running our own uniform shop didn't make sense. Our families now have access to retail stores that are open six days a week and the ability to purchase uniforms and accessories online 24/7. Working with NZ Uniforms to make the switch was both pleasant and professional. They have worked hard to source quality materials that match our specifications and patterns exactly. They've also helped us streamline our offerings so that we don't have too many or unnecessary products available. We're excited to move forward with NZ Uniforms supporting Marsden.

Glenfield College has been delighted with the service and communication from NZ Uniforms. Introducing a new uniform can be challenging, yet the follow-up and attention to the numerous requests from the school made it a seamless transition. The community is very proud of the end product
In the rapidly changing economic environment we exist in, the stability of a relationship with a company such as NZ Uniforms is valued. They bring a high quality, reliable and principled approach to the business of school uniforms. We have been very happy with the relationship that we have had with NZ Uniforms for nearly nine years now.

I’ve been purchasing both on and off field apparel on behalf of the NSRFC for over 20 years. In that time we’ve dealt with many suppliers. 10 years ago we found NZU and since then my voluntary role has gone much smoother. Wonderful people to deal with on all levels and their keenly priced product is exemplary, we wouldn’t go anywhere else!
